3 Quick Breakfast Recipes Using Cheese Slices

3 Quick Breakfast Recipes Using Cheese Slices

Mornings are usually not the time when you want a complicated recipe. You’re trying to get ready, find your keys, answer a message and somehow eat something before leaving the house. That’s where a few basic ingredients can save you. Keep some bread, eggs, vegetables and an amul cheese slice in the fridge, and you’ve already got the makings of a decent breakfast.

1. The Five-Minute Cheese Toastie

And then there comes those days where you wish cooking was the last thing on your mind. But wait! Here is something prepared especially for such days. Just put butter on two slices of bread and stuff it up with vegetables – be it tomatoes, onions, or capsicum – topping it with a slice of cheese. Sprinkle some pepper and then close it to make a sandwich. Toast it in a pan or in a sandwich maker until the bread becomes crispy and the cheese becomes gooey. Cut it in half and eat it while it’s hot.

2. The Cheesy Omelette

One wonderful thing about cooking up an omelette yourself is how fast it can be done. Just whip two eggs together with a little salt and pepper, and pour them into a greased non-stick skillet, leaving it undisturbed to brown nicely on the bottom. Now, the exciting part: sprinkle finely chopped onions, tomatoes, capsicums, or fresh coriander, over one side, and put in an amul cheese slice. Cover one side to the other and allow the omelette to cook for about a minute. The cheese will soften inside, and you’re done. Have it with toast or eat it on its own.

3. The Breakfast Wrap

Heat a roti or tortilla briefly over the pan. On the top of the veggies, add the beaten eggs and some chutney or sauce as well. Top it all off with a slice of cheese and roll the wrap. You just have to fry the wrap further for a minute in the pan if you want it to be crunchy from outside and cheesy inside. Basically this is a one-step recipe, so why not give it a try in the morning?

Keep The Breakfast Basics Around

These recipes use things you can mix and match, so there’s no need to buy completely different ingredients for each one. Bread can become toast or a sandwich, leftover vegetables can go into an omelette, and yesterday’s roti can become today’s wrap. If you’re ordering from a grocery store, you can also add eggs, bread, vegetables, cheese and other breakfast staples to one order.

Add Whatever You Have

Don’t worry if your refrigerator does not have all the ingredients. You may want to substitute capsicum with sweet corn or paneer for eggs. A dash of green chutney would make the dish taste better. Breakfast preparations will always use leftover ingredients. If your stocks are getting depleted a grocery store will be of great help otherwise, you may find yourself staring at an empty bread shelf by 8 in the morning.

Keep It Simple

The best breakfast isn’t necessarily the most impressive one. It’s the one you can actually make when you’re half-awake and short on time. Keep bread, eggs, vegetables and an amul cheese slice ready, and you’ll have several quick options without having to think too hard first thing in the morning.
