There is an island I do not want to tell you about. It is so special, pristine, quaint. Maybe we will get to that island, but on the way, we will drift past other beautiful destinations to research for your beach home purchase.
You need to expect some things in a tropical home such as heat, bugs, rain, and rain. The upside is next-level nature, beaches, diving, fishing, boating, inexpensive living, delicious food, precious local traditions, and happy people.
There are a lot of preserved or national park islands that you can not even set foot on, let alone build. More islands are too small and privately owned by powerful folks. There is also a nice list of sublime islands surrounded by beautiful beaches wrapped in lively ocean waters.
- Koh Samui has an airport and several ferry lines that service the island’s traffic and transport needs. This island is growing and is already well visited. The sector with the most growth is luxury beach house. Each side of this island offers a different feel of culture and environment.
- Koh Lanta is one of my favourite islands due to its remote location at the end of the Andaman chain in the straight of Malaka. From your white sand beach, you can stare out into the ocean and sky, dotted by distant fishing boats and constellations.
- A famous European destination for parties on the beach is Koh Pha Ngan is one step back in time from the development of Koh Samui. That increase in raw nature and hidden peace make beach living here a dream.
- The island of Koh Phi Phi is a tourist paradise where you could live in a small condo or beach home in simple style and unparallelled nature vistas and experiences.
- The Koh Chang chain is in the Southeast corner of Thailand, very nearly Cambodia. Koh Chang is large but mostly jungle, great for trekking and a beach bum lifestyle. There is a nice slow pace about his island.
- The island I don’t want to tell you about is Koh Mak. This very small, flat island can be walked across in an hour, has only one atm, and it’s normally empty. If you want island parties and seclusion, this little island can swallow you up into nirvana.
- Koh Lippe has got to be the most beautiful and picturesque island in Thailand. World-class diving could be as close as your backyard with a luxury beach home here.
- Koh Kood is very hard to get to. This difficulty keeps the masses away and presents an untouched island from Thailand’s history. Simple fishing villages dot the coast and high-quality reports offer beach houses and pampered service.
Plot out a few-week trip to investigate these island locations. Pay attention to seasonal weather
when living on a coast or island. There are months of strong winds from certain directions and other regions with monsoon rains that could affect your home location choice. Thailand’s visa and property investment laws have been bolstered to support foreigners. Read up on Section 19 of the Property Ownership Act.
See you soon, new neighbour.
