Do you want to choose the best bed for your little one? A Montessori floor bed is just an option. However, since there are many different models and designs of such beds, it’s worth choosing the one that provides comfort and safety and promotes your child’s development. So, we have prepared several helpful tips to help you select the best bed for your child.

    Choose the style and design

When choosing the style and design of a toddler floor bed, consider the overall aesthetic of the room and your child’s interests. Opt for colors, themes, and features that resonate with your child’s personality and create a space where they feel comfortable and inspired. Whether it’s a whimsical car-shaped bed for an aspiring race car driver or a sleek floor-level bed for a modern minimalist room, the right choice can transform your child’s bedroom into a place of joy and creativity.

    • Floor-level beds are characterized by their minimalistic design and proximity to the ground. They offer easy access for toddlers and provide a sense of freedom and independence while promoting safety.
    • Beds with low legs offer a compromise between traditional and floor-level beds. They provide a bit of elevation off the ground, making them easier to clean underneath while still maintaining a low profile for accessibility.
    • Gym beds for little athletes are equipped with ladders, monkey bars, and other interesting climbing features, turning the toddler bed into a real playground or sports corner. Additionally, such a design allows for space-saving in the room, maintaining its high functionality.
    • Car-shaped beds are a classic favorite among children, appealing not only to boys but also to girls. With sleek designs resembling race cars, these beds can add a touch of adventure to any room.
    • Beds with headboards offer a more traditional look while still catering to toddlers’ needs. The headboard provides a sense of security and can serve as a focal point for decorating the room.

Choose the option that aligns with the room’s style and your child’s preferences.

Consider the space available in the child’s room

Floor-level beds are excellent because they can have both compact dimensions and be spacious and super comfortable even for adults. Therefore, when choosing the size of a child’s floor bed, measure the room, plan the furniture layout, and determine the maximum bed size that can fit in the room, leaving enough space for learning, storing items, and engaging in active play.

    Bed Safety

Montessori floor beds are made of natural wood, making them inherently sturdy and safe. However, it’s essential to ensure that the bed has quality assembly, its parts do not move involuntarily, and there are no sharp or protruding parts. When it comes to a child’s sleeping place, product safety should be one of the key criteria, and if anything raises doubts in this aspect, it’s better to double-check to ensure that your toddler is using the best, safest product.

    Room Safety

When using a floor bed, it’s crucial not only to choose the best option but also to ensure safety in the room overall. Since toddlers can easily get up from a floor bed, the room should be childproofed as much as possible. Secure all furniture to the wall, cover all electrical outlets, install childproofing on windows, remove electrical appliances from free access, and make sure that there are no objects within the child’s reach that they can swallow or be injured by.

It’s best to sit on the floor and assess the room at the child’s eye level. If, at this level, you notice any potentially hazardous items, remove this danger beforehand.

Approaching the choice and arrangement of a sleeping place in this way can help you feel confident, and your little one can enjoy independence and comfort.
